Biology
This semester's course examines three basic concepts of biology (cellular structures, physiology, molecular genetics) with a social justice lens. Students will develop skills in scientific modeling and evidence-based writing, as well as various biotech lab techniques. The curriculum focuses around the essential question of "How can understanding Biology create a more just society?"
This spring, our first project will be to create materials for the San Diego County Office of Education Virtual Wellness Center, and display our work in high school wellness centers across San Diego. Our second project will be to research health inequities in our own communities, and create podcasts available to the public on SoundCloud.

Google Classroom: Honors
The Honors option is in addition to the preparatory Biology curriculum and is designed to provide a deeper foundation in basic biology concepts that will support students possibly pursuing a career in the scientific field. Students who opt-in to this track will be required to complete college-level readings, prepare a seminar for their peers, and take on at least one leadership role within the classroom. The FAQ for this Honors commitment can be found here.
